About us

Custom Made Physio is a Darwin based physiotherapy clinic

Custom Made Physio was created to deliver personalised, hands-on and active treatment. Our core values are quality, integrity, care and compassion.

At Custom Made Physio, we see you as an individual with your own story, injury and goals. We work with you to help you along your rehabilitation journey. In our practice, you will not be attached to a machine and left alone while we tend to other patients. Care is strictly one-to-one, with an emphasis on hands-on treatment and graded, personal exercise programs. We want you to be moving with ease and feeling stronger so that you can get the most out of your life.

Our goal is always to treat you as quickly and as thoroughly as possible, with the aim to empower you to take charge of your rehabilitation.

About Sam - Director and Physiotherapist

Sam and Beppu

Sam and Beppu

Originally from Sydney, Sam completed a Bachelor of Management in Sport and Exercise and International Studies at the University of Technology Sydney and Masters of Physiotherapy at Sydney University. In the years since, he has built a wide range of professional experience through working in the NSW hospital system, and then progressing to professional private practice. After working for two different practices in Sydney where he broadened and deepened his experience in 'hands-on' physio and exercise based rehabilitation, he moved to the NT. Sam has now been Darwin-based for over 8 years, which has seen him working in Indigenous health in remote communities and with the local Darwin population. Sam is committed to establishing a welcoming, hands-on, proactive and local based practice for Territorians. He is a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association and is a registered physio with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.

He has gained valuable experience in musculoskeletal rehabilitation, sports injuries/coverage, pre and post-operative rehabilitation, work place and motor vehicle accident rehabilitation, exercise load management and chronic pain. Through his hospital and remote health experience he has also had experience in working with neurological (e.g. stroke, spinal cord injuries, Parkinson's Disease), cardiopulmonary rehabilitation (heart and lungs) and aged care/falls prevention.

Sam's personal sporting interests originally started with an infatuation with all things soccer and tennis before more recently expanding to surfing and now predominantly, cycling. This has led to him completing further education in bike fitting and training load management. He has been delivering physiotherapy led bike-fits in Darwin since 2014. He is a current member of the Darwin Cycling Club and Darwin Off-Road Cycling club. As such he has a personal interest in cycling related, endurance sport/overuse and lower limb injuries.

About Ben - Physiotherapist

Ben

Ben originally hails from Upper Hutt in New Zealand, and completed a Bachelor of Physiotherapy at the University of Otago in Dunedin in 2018. In the past 6 years, Ben has gained a wealth of experience in the musculoskeletal field of physiotherapy, working in both a community and sports clinic during his time in Christchurch, before moving to Australia in 2024 to work in Cairns for 1 year, before making the move to Darwin in 2025. He has an active approach to injury management and prevention, combining an exercise approach with hands-on techniques to get people back to 100%, and prefers to keep everyone doing the activities that they love.

Ben has spent time working with rugby union and football (soccer) teams in New Zealand, and has a key interest in working with runners and running related injuries. His particular interest is in endurance running injuries and pains, and addresses this with gait retraining, strengthening and hands on relief. He also has experience working with rehabilitating severe lower limb injuries and surgeries, particularly knee reconstructions, and also has experience working with older adults injury management.

Football was Ben’s passion growing up, playing at club level into adulthood, but also played cricket during his school days. Nowadays running and gym training keep Ben active, and he is always looking for the next event to take part in. This has led to Ben’s passion for helping people to achieve and improve on their own goals, whether it be sport related or otherwise!
